Description

A delightful Neapolitan Cheesecake Cake featuring three luscious layers: rich chocolate cake, creamy strawberry-flavored cheesecake, and classic vanilla cake. Topped with a drizzle of chocolate ganache and whipped cream, this elegant dessert brings together the best of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry for a visually stunning and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Cake Layer

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix plus ingredients listed on box

Vanilla Cake Layer

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix plus ingredients listed on box

Cheesecake Layer

  • 24 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry preserves
  • 1 to 2 drops red food coloring (optional)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache or chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup whipped cream or stabilized whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake Layers: Prepare the vanilla and chocolate cake batters according to the package instructions. Bake each batter separately in greased 9-inch round cake pans following the box directions. Once baked, allow the cakes to cool completely.
  2. Bake the Cheesecake: Preheat the oven to 325°F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, blending thoroughly after each addition. Mix in sour cream and vanilla extract until well combined. Pour the cheesecake batter into a greased 9-inch springform pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the center is just set.
  3. Cool the Cheesecake: After baking, turn off the oven and crack the door slightly. Allow the cheesecake to cool inside the oven for 1 hour to prevent cracking. Afterward, refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set completely.
  4. Assemble the Cake: Place the chocolate cake layer on a serving plate. Evenly spread the strawberry preserves over the chocolate cake layer, adding red food coloring if a brighter pink strawberry layer is desired. Carefully position the cheesecake layer on top of the strawberry layer, followed by the vanilla cake layer.
  5. Add Toppings: Drizzle the chocolate ganache over the top vanilla cake layer. Lightly frost the entire top with whipped cream or stabilized whipped topping for a smooth and elegant finish.
  6. Chill and Serve: Chill the assembled cake in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before slicing. For clean slices, use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between each cut.

Notes

  • For cleaner slices, use a sharp knife wiped clean between cuts.
  • You can substitute homemade cake and ganache in place of boxed mixes and store-bought toppings if preferred.
  • Allow adequate chilling time for the cheesecake to set properly;
  • Adding food coloring to strawberry preserves enhances the Neapolitan look but is optional.
