Ingredients
Scale
Peanut Butter Filling
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (or chunky, if you prefer)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Coating
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate if preferred)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter (optional, to smooth the chocolate coating)
Instructions
- Prepare the Peanut Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar. Stir well until the mixture forms a stiff dough-like consistency that can be rolled into balls.
- Form the Truffles: Using your hands or a small scoop, shape the peanut butter mixture into 12 equal-sized balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the Chocolate: While the peanut butter balls chill, melt the chocolate chips and unsalted butter together in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Alternatively, melt over a double boiler on the stovetop.
- Coat the Truffles: Remove the peanut butter balls from the refrigerator. Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each ball into the melted chocolate, coating it completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then place back on the parchment-lined sheet.
- Set the Truffles: Once all the balls are coated, place the baking sheet back into the refrigerator and chill for an additional 30 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate coating is firm, your peanut butter truffles are ready to enjoy. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- You can use either creamy or chunky peanut butter depending on your texture preference.
- For a smoother chocolate coating, the addition of unsalted butter is optional but recommended.
- If you prefer a dairy-free option, substitute with dairy-free chocolate chips and vegan butter.
- Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle sea salt on top of the chocolate before it hardens.
