Description

Delicious and healthy Salmon Burgers topped with a fresh and creamy Basil Mayo, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. These homemade salmon patties are flavored with herbs and lemon, pan-seared for a golden crust, and served on toasted buns for a classic American seafood burger experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Burgers

  • 1 pound fresh salmon, skin removed and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Basil Mayo

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Additional

  • 4 burger buns

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the finely chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, egg, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, parsley, basil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to ensure the patties hold together without becoming dense.
  2. Form Patties: Shape the salmon mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, pressing lightly to compact them but not overworking the meat.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon patties carefully and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until they develop a golden-brown crust and are cooked through.
  4. Make Basil Mayo: While the patties cook, in a small bowl combine mayonnaise, fresh chopped basil, and lemon juice. Stir well until smooth and flavorful.
  5. Toast Buns and Assemble: Optionally toast the burger buns until lightly crisp. Spread a generous amount of basil mayo on the bottom bun, top with a cooked salmon patty, then cover with the top bun. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter meal, serve the salmon patties over a fresh salad instead of using burger buns.
  • Using panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs will give the patties a crispier texture.
  • Ensure not to overmix the salmon mixture to keep the patties tender.
  • Fresh herbs enhance the flavor significantly; do not substitute dried herbs unless necessary.
