Description
This Taco Bread recipe combines the convenience of crescent roll dough with savory seasoned ground beef, taco sauce, and melted cheddar cheese. Baked to golden perfection, it offers a fun and flavorful twist on traditional tacos in an easy-to-slice bread form, perfect for casual meals or parties.
Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 (8-oz) can crescent rolls
Filling
- ¾ lb ground beef
- ¼ cup water
- 1 (1-oz) packet taco seasoning
- ¼ cup taco sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Prepare Dough Base: Open the can of crescent rolls, but do not unroll the dough. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the entire roll of dough in half lengthwise. Place each half cut-side down into the prepared loaf pan to form a base layer.
- Cook Taco Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess grease. Add the ¼ cup water and the packet of taco seasoning to the skillet, then simmer the mixture for about five minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Assemble Taco Bread: Spread the seasoned taco meat evenly over the prepared crescent roll dough in the loaf pan. Drizzle the ¼ cup of taco sauce evenly on top of the meat layer. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese generously over everything.
- Bake and Serve: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown and the crescent dough is cooked through. Garnish the finished bread with chopped green onions or parsley for a fresh touch. Carefully lift the bread out of the pan using the parchment paper and slice to serve.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For extra spice, add diced jalapeños or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes.
- Use your favorite brand of taco sauce, or substitute with salsa for a different flavor profile.
- Leftovers can be wrapped tightly and refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
- If crescent rolls are unavailable, puff pastry dough can be a good alternative.
