Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 8 oz whole grain pasta (penne, bowtie, rotini, shells)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- â…“ cup nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Cook the whole grain pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and transfer the pasta to a large mixing bowl.
- Season Pasta: Add the lemon juice to the drained pasta and mix well to coat evenly. Then add the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Toss everything together until the pasta pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Air Fry Pasta: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (205°C). Spread the seasoned pasta chips evenly in the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Air fry for 8 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Bake for Extra Crispiness: While the air fryer does most of the work, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the air-fried pasta chips in a single layer. Bake for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they turn golden and reach your preferred crispiness.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the pasta chips from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. This resting time helps the chips crisp up further. Serve as a healthy snack or crunchy topping.
Notes
- Whole grain pasta adds fiber and nutrients, making these chips a healthier snack option.
- You can use any pasta shape, but smaller shapes like penne, bowtie, rotini, or shells work best for even cooking.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more nutritional yeast or spices if desired.
- Ensure air fryer basket is not overcrowded to allow even crisping of the pasta chips.
- For extra flavor, experiment with adding smoked paprika, chili powder, or Italian herbs to the seasoning mix.
- Store leftover pasta chips in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
